So we're not supposed to be alarmed that the National Guard is doing police work in Albuquerque. We are told this is necessary because of fentanyl and juvenile crime.

What it sounds like to me is another step toward normalizing a police state. Like this won't escalate.

In scary times, it's helpful to me to take on scary tasks. Face my fears head on. Show up for others.

When I was a kid, I never could quite grasp how the Dark Ages happened, how a society would *choose* to walk away from science and knowledge. Probably with the help of a bunch of liberals who were quiet when the targets were minority groups or thinkers who made them uncomfortable.

So the question is how much personal pain I'm willing to sing about versus what the fuck is bugging me right now and it's dead kids and defense contractors knocking back a few at happy hour and having a few laughs like they're not killers in all reality.
