Because there is, indeed, an intense lack of effort here in Chicago at dealing with the real issues behind homelessness. For all of Brandon's talk of housing, his impact so far has been dismal. The best I can say for him is that we passed Green Social Housing, but that hasn't come online yet at all.

Superb piece by @ryanlcooper.com. Couldn't have laid out the case better myself, & I've been saying the same for more years than I can remember. It's the first step towards dismantling Israel & helping the people of that region rebuild a true democracy representing all its people in Israel's place.

O'Neill Burke has been a disaster for justice. She is costing the taxpayers more by locking people up indiscriminately. She is actively causing harm.

Maybe outsourcing this stuff is bad for the people in the first place. Just saying.

Plus, the soldiers who died in that trailer were unacceptably exposed and vulnerable to attack. I remember when the GOP turned the loss of four U.S. lives in Benghazi into a years-long scandal and investigation.

We don't have enough publicly accessible bathrooms in enough places in the city. We also have a serious problem with criminalizing unhoused people. Both things can be true at once. It's not either/or.

That's something we can organize to change and is 100% on my radar to make sure we work towards, especially seeing as they are unmanned, but just getting these in the first place is an important first step. We're well behind places like NYC and San Francisco in implementing this.

If Murphy is saying that Dems will FINALLY deny unanimous consent until they get a War Powers vote, that's a good thing. I'll believe it when I see it as they could have been doing this all along, but maybe this is where they finally grind things to a halt, at least for a little while. Let's hope.

Not just mobility. Lots of disabled people have issues that require more availability of bathroom access. Plus unhoused people, parents out with kids that suddenly need to go, pregnant folks, and on and on. We need these all over the city.
