Listen, protest however you like. It’s none of my business. But I do immediately think you’re a Nazi if you are carrying the American flag.

Social media and crowdfunding have turned cartoonists into small business tyrants who are unable to show solidarity for workers or other cartoonists.

The act of mass shooting is inherently radical right wing behavior. I don’t need to dissect a manifesto or a profile to know that. Studying a shooter’s politics feels like a nation wide effort to cope with the fact that we’ve given up on any actual gun control policy coming to pass.

I often think of the time some guy tried to run over me and a bunch of protesters outside an ice facility back in 2019. It was clear to me that they would have no issues with killing peaceful protesters. It kinda shifted my mentality on what was actually necessary to stop them.

There’s like a 100% overlap on the venn diagram of liberals who ignore genocide and liberals who defend Charlie Kirk, so no surprises on my end.

If you find yourself on a 19 hour grayhound busride from SPX back to whatever challenging reality you find yourself in, please know that art will nourish you, and you have every right to make and appreciate art.

Only with the right credentials and the right class affiliations could you experience, make, or learn about art.
The DIY scene was a direct contradiction to this notion.
Through shows like SPX, I learned that anybody can make art and that art was a nourishing and essential force. Not a luxury.

Nineteen years ago I dropped out of art school, moved back home, and started working 3rd shift at a local grocery store.
The art school I went to treated creative community like a country club.

With the use of these profiles, you can take any full color image and instantly convert it to a specific multi color riso image!

[color/shift]

colorshift.theretherenow.com Color/Shift is a really cool project. They have taken on the impossible task of profiling a near infinite amount of riso color combinations and offering the icc profiles free for everyone. Color profiling requires a lot of time and special hardware/software.

Now, I said I did a 3 color print, but since the lineart is solid black with no tones, I didn't need to make a halftone.

CMYK printing uses different angles depending on the device.

13.09.2025 13:18 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

When working with 2 overlapping screens, you want to keep your colors 60 degrees apart, and you want the lighter color to be the angle closest to 0. This is to prevent moire. When working with 3 overlapping screens you want to be 30 degrees apart, 4 screens should be 15 degrees apart.

Now, here's where people goof up. You want to use DIFFERENT ANGLES for your halftones when layering them on top of each other. If you don't then the color mixing effect doesn't work. The image on the left has overlapping screens, the image on the right uses different angles.

I selected 71 lpi because it's a known safe lpi for riso. I don't have enough experience to make a different decision because I want to avoid moire. 71 lpi is also very close to classic comics and newspaper halftones which I wanted to evoke.

I then converted the grayscale channel to bitmap using the halftone option. This is where the magic happens. I select a frequency (known as LPI in the print world) of 71. This is the LPI risographs use for the "medium dot" size. For the angle of the darker color I select 75.
