Community Organizing. Building. Growing. Cooking. Eating. Imbibing. Celebrating. Not necessarily in that order. Often simultaneously.
And having an economic system based on the premise of infinite growth is also a choice...

08.10.2025 18:37 โ ๐ 9 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0In Chicago, we're still breathlessly awaiting a legal ruling that's supposed to be announced tomorrow about the legality of the deployment here. The judge declined to block it in the interim.
08.10.2025 18:31 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0If she's worried about tear gas, she can bring a bottle of saline, swim goggles, and a respirator or mask or bandana. When scared, it's normal to want to crouch down, but tear gas is heavier than air and thus thicker close to the ground, so don't listen to that crouching instinct.
07.10.2025 20:08 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Here's a thought: Why don't we just accept the Autism spectrum as part of life and seek better ways of accommodating people's diverse needs?
22.09.2025 20:55 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0What's tasteless is the cowardly way politicians and media outlets lined up to call the person behind the Professor Watchlist a "Champion of Free Speech."

Life is dark and depressing, and then I walk in the woods and remember that all of human history is a blink, and the other animals (the ones that survive, at least) will celebrate our extinction.

09.09.2025 03:12 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0One thing I've had to let go of was my healthy "clean" eating habits. Friend, we're not gonna live to 80 no matter what. Any food you can actually get down is good for you at this point.
09.09.2025 03:09 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0Everyone is different, but for me the trusty foods are instant mashed potatoes, pureed lentil soup, and oatmeal cooked until it's almost more like a pudding.
09.09.2025 03:07 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0The noodle thing is problematic - it's your body responding to calorie deficit. My oncologist set the goal to get rid of noodle mode. She of course suggested the brat diet. And soup, lots of soup. And protein shakes. Supplements when I can handle them, but sometimes they're too hard to swallow.
09.09.2025 03:05 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0My bad days are also consecutive and lead to being a "horizontal noodle" (love that description!) Tho mine also comes with diarrhea, and my cycle is 30 days. I was in fast mode for 1 week of 4 and a noodle for 4 days. Now, we got out down to 2 days of fasting with 1 day as a noodle.
09.09.2025 03:02 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0Hi, fellow cancer patient here who's undergone 5 years of immunotherapy. I'd love to share advice from my oncologist but first must ask: Are the days when you can't eat consecutive? Is there diarrhea or vomiting involved, or just fasting? Also, do the non-eating days make you feel weak and wobbly?

Mock and ridicule them for masking
Ask how it feels to be hated by everyone in town
Ask if this is what they thought this assignment would be like
Ask if they really want to be here
Ask if they'd rather be home where they live with family and friends instead of being hated here
3/3
Blast (within legal decibel limits) silly songs (for ex: Vanilla Ice)
Lawfully engage ICE, feds, cops etc
Film them
Ask them why they're wearing masks
Ask them to remove their masks
Ask them their names
Ask what agency they work for
Ask them where they're from
Ask them why they're here

If you can:
Be there
Be there with others
Film stops, arrests, detainments etc by ICE, feds, cops etc
Film them walking down the street or standing around
Warn others esp potentially vulnerable people
Waste their time
Monopolize their attention
Distract them
Make them a spectacle

A flyer with a drawing showing a tea cup with bees buzzing about. The Heading reads, " Tea Time - Herbal tea making workshop & picnic." Smaller text at the bottom says, "Mindful Living Garden. 3323 N. Drake. Thursday, September 4. 6-8pm(ish)"
This evening at the garden, Miss Betty will teach us how to make our own herbal tea blends! She's focusing on herbs to support our health with cold and flu season approaching. Of course, everyone is always welcome at the Mindful Living Garden!

30.08.2025 22:55 โ ๐ 6 ๐ 2 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0A beautiful picnic spread on a blue table cloth in a garden. There's cucumber cake (with gin buttercream), cucumber bread, agua fresca, cucumber/watermelon/mint popsicles, crackers, and various cheeses (because there's always room on the table for cheese!). Because we're in the real world, there's also a citronella candle and can of mosquito repellant on the table. Later on, someone brought the most lovely cucumber salad, but I didn't get a photo of that.
Wow, this week's Mindful Living Garden happy hour was beyond amazing! Our theme was Cucumber, and everyone really stepped up, creating so many delicious things using this year's cucumber bumper crop. I'm so in love with the collaborative, mutually supportive community we've built at the garden.

This week's Community Garden Happy Hour theme is cucumber. My partner in crime, Miss Betty, is making agua fresca & 3 types of pickles, and i have 2 cucumber cakes in the oven. We're drowning in cukes from our gardens and are determined to use them all! ##UrbanGarden ##UrbsInHorto
