β€œI am glad you’re not here to watch our city burn,” my friend in Tehran told me. This is what he’s referring to.

From a resident of Tehran following the US/Israeli attacks on the oil depots in the city: β€œEveryone in the streets is crying” www.instagram.com/stories/blac...

Yes, they water the trees that line the streets, which means all those trees will now catch fire.

β€œAnd the world needs to know that since oil depots across Iran are being targeted, people are queuing up at gas stations to fill their cars' tanks, and buying boxes of bottled water, because they fear desalination plants would be next...” β€” his view from Tehran.

Just heard from a friend in Tehran who says reality is even worse than the pictures. When they hit the depot in Aghdasiyeh, he could hear and feel it from 15km away.

He says if he could reach internet he’d say: β€œtoday is the day the world shall end, as the scripture has foretold,” he says.

There are gutters in the street to channel the water down from the mountains. It seems that those are now filled with oil.

Heard secondhand from my uncle this morning who said that the smell from the bombs was already so strong; I cannot imagine breathing in this.

The pollution from US/Israel strikes will last a long time. They can't even put these fires out. They have to wait for the fire to peter out.

An Israeli-American airstrike on an oil depot in the city of Tehran lead to a leak and mass fires throughout forests and roads.

If that's not Ecocide, then what it is?? I feel bad not only for the humans involved - but the animals as well.

I can’t bear to look at the pictures of Tehran right now. Oil is flowing into the streets because Tehran has open mini-canals for rainwater. Tehran will lose so many trees. :(

Only a week into the war and they have started hitting fuel storage and refineries.

And some on here questioned it. I am sorry. If you had been paying close attention to what they did in Gaza, you would have known what was coming.

North Tehran’s Aqdasiyeh oil depot is ablaze tonight after it was targeted by multiple US-Israeli airstrikes. Apocalyptic scenes filmed by Iranians driving on the nearby highway. Local reporters saying firefighters can’t put it out. This depot is critical energy infrastructure for Iran.

Israel used to say it was the only democratic state in the Middle East. Looks like Bibi wants it to be the only state in the Middle East.

Iran’s civil aviation sector has already been in dire straits for years thanks to sanctions, so this feels far more grim than it would in another country.

Gulf allies complain US didn't notify them of Iran attacks and ignored their warnings, sources say Officials say Iran’s retaliatory attacks in the Middle East over strikes from Israel and the U.S. have left some of America’s partners in the Gulf frustrated over a lack of notice or adequate defense.

β€œGulf countries said their countries were not given advance notice of the U.S.-Israeli attack and complained the U.S. had ignored their warnings that the war would have devastating consequences for the entire region.”

You'll be surprised that Jeff Goldberg used to go around claiming Iranian Americans who advocated for talks with Iran to deal with nuclear program and other issues like their behavior were lobbyists for the Iranian regime. A slur regularly promoted by his close friend Eli "Chalabi stenographer" Lake

The Kurds are rightly pissed off. About constant US betrayal. That despite all they've done to support US interests most Americans still dont know who they are. The West is experiencing this for the first time now, but for most of the Global South a deal w/the US has long been a deal w/ the devil

Trump and also apparently a non-zero segment of American media don’t seem to understand concepts like deterrence or context or diplomacy, only bombing and direct coercion.

Tweet from Abbas Araghchi reads: The U.S. committed a blatant and desperate crime by attacking a freshwater desalination plant on Qeshm Island. Water supply in 30 villages has been impacted.

Attacking Iran's infrastructure is a dangerous move with grave consequences. The U.S. set this precedent, not Iran.

US-Israeli targets include schools, health care infrastructure, Tehran’s airport, and now, if what Iran’s foreign minister says is accurate, a desalination plant providing water to 30 villages.

What a precedent to set, hitting desalination plants around the Gulf which so heavily relies on them.
