A digital art coloring tutorial featuring my original character. The ALT text for the base/finished photo is included in the replies to this post. Transcribed steps: 1 - Base colors 2 - I duplicate, use a gradient map to add purple / saturation & lower opacity of the new layer. Gradient maps reassign palette based on present light/dark tones. See example on the left. [Example of a quick monochrome doodle with a red and blue gradient map to display their effect.] 3 - Using Lighten mode, I softened the contrast from the dark outlines over the entire picture. Purple blends everything, cool or warm. I want soft shadows & bright lights. Layer modes are fun! Mess around. 4 - I use Hard Light mode to add shadows and Overlay to enhance the colors without washing them out. 5 - I return to a normal layer mode and manually add harsh sunlight on the yellow-toned side. In general, warm highlights mean cool shadows vice versa. 6 - I manually colorpick for this but you can use Addition, Luminosity modes etc for dominant brightness too. This is optional, but limited uses of grey tones bring out the brightness of other colors surrounding it. I tint my grey purple for this picture. 7 - I paint some additional shadows on, now that I'm satisfied with the lighting. I finished the drawing here, but sometimes I do more. I'll pretend to go overboard on this one to show off the process. 8-10: Using Color Balance, further adjust your values focusing on one part of the drawing at a time. Duplicate the pic, re-adjust for a different part, and then erase the wonky bits from each layer. For this pic, it's purple highlights and yellow shadows. Lower opacity & merge after furious layer-toggling and erasing.

I've managed to draw some personal artwork again. I'm trying to improve my cybertech skills.This beauty is a so-called Cyber Type 1. In my lore, these are people who have cyberized themselves so extensively that only a few parts of their bodies are still biological. I hope you like it. 💕 #digitalart

It's an information extraction job, then?" From the nose up, the woman's face was covered in cyberimplants: with eyes glowing in red, all her hair was shaved to give rook for chrome and hardwares. The shiny material went down her back, covering all the bones from the spine. "If so, you can count on me." Checking her file, Alastor saw her name: Catarina, mercenary specialized in information extraction and high profile heists."

The gremlins in question, Alastor and Nyx - and a quick, special participation from Catarina, my beloved 🖤

(still have to work on more art from all the characters really, but at least she has a profile sheet)

"I understand your frustrations and will be refraining from using art created by you. In terms of the credit. I will be crediting all artwork moving forward. I highly suggest implementing an intrusive watermark for your artwork if you intend to make money from it. I also suggest not releasing artwork for public consumption without a watermark and than get upset and threaten legal action when shorts policies don’t enforce copyright laws. Which is why I can use the pirates of the Caribbean music (as an example) in my shorts without demonetization. I understand your desire to be credited and like mentioned previous will be done accordingly. Please consider implementing the suggestions I laid out at the beginning to your future work to avoid being in this situation with every single content creator, average joe or Facebook grandma who reposts your artwork you released without proper precautions. Protecting your art and your creative integrity is a two way street and doing your due diligence goes a long way in protecting your future financial prosperity in your chosen field. I’m going to be doing mine by crediting and you should do yours by only sharing artwork that you’ve made money from previously and don’t intend to make more from or having an aggressive and intrusive Watermark that can’t be easily cut, making the only realistic way to revive the artwork is by purchasing. Not just in my case but for every single person besides you and your paying customers. As this issue also doesn’t pertain to you alone, all artists should implement the following suggestions if they intend to make money from their art. The internet is free use and if proper protection of property isn’t accounted for these are the consequences. (international law is quite a complex thing and there isn't a correct, overall understanding regarding certain things, so knowing your country's law and how it affects you is the best way you have to protect yourself 😉)

This is how it works in my country! Since the internet is worldwide, it's kinda an international law issue. In international law, basically, the law from your country will apply to you - so I'd go with the understanding that your protections regarding your intellectual property apply to your art

As far as I've always understood as a lawyer, fanart is fine and it's yours as long as you don't make money of it. The art per se, is YOURS. So you can still beat an art thief with a stick :)
(these things have many different understandings and interpretations, but that's my country's view of it)
