I love Valkyrie jam, had some issues lately with being able to afford it. Was considering cutting down the amount of people or days, but after seeing this years bunch in their happy and cozy state, walks, movie nights and at the end wished they had more time, I don't want to take that away either 🥺

I just got a DM from someone that pirated my game.

They said (paraphrasing) that with hindsight the game was absolutely worth the price, and were asking my preferred avenue for them to buy it (Steam vs Itch).

I've gotten a lot of great DMs from players, but this one is probably my favorite.

I hope everyone feels reinvigorated after visiting GDC & I hope for next year you make the fact that so many can't afford, can't safely go, or otherwise are blocked from the feelings & support you're now feeling a consideration in supporting one of the most exclusionary events in games next year.

Experiences like this are so valuable. I very much hope that I’m able to attend a GDC again someday so that I can meet peers and share my undying passion for games. Sadly, company travel restrictions have prevented us from accessing funds set aside for such learning opportunities. We miss them.

What bugs me the most about the layoffs in the games industry - apart from good people losing their jobs - is that many times, the people who ran the studios so badly are still allowed to run studios and that people who have no business being in charge of other people are promoted even higher.

• 1 in 10 respondents laid off, Narrative roles most affected at 19%
• 13% interested in making live-service games, 42% not at all
• 13% work 51+ hrs/week (vs 8% prev year)
• 20% said they've discussed unionising
