Actually, *this* was the very smart play on her part - intentionally not trying to answer the final clue because she knew that a tie was her only chance.

No, it just means she knew that it was actually very likely that they were going to bet everything and not some "bold prediction" on her part.

Her wager almost certainly doesn't matter, since it's quite unlikely that either of her opponents wager anything other than 0 or 7600, but wagering *something* keeps her from losing outright if anyone decides that she might bet 0 and wagers an amount locking out her current score.

There's a key bit of context missing from the original post - the other two players were tied.

In a tie game, there's really only two defensible wagers from the tied players - nothing or everything. And since this was an invitational, all three of them knew that all-in bets were likely.
