My brother has tried to get his wife to talk to PFLAG, or go to a meeting (he has now down so), or go to a family therapist. She will do none of these things. Now my niece is staying with a friend who has supportive parents because her mom said she must present as a male or leave.

I am glad PFLAG was helpful to you. My niece has been sending us videos of what her mother says and does and at this point it feels like emotional abuse. Our first goal is to get her out of there, because it is about her and not the mother.

I am not sure what she will decide, but we will be supporting whatever her choice is. I am sorry you had to go through similar things.

I am not sure what she wants to do, but she is going to be staying with my mom for the summer and we are talking with my brother about her doing her final high school year in our town. She was telling me the other day her friends parents said it was okay if she stayed there till school is done.

Yeah, we are going to save her from her mom. My brother is finally starting to listen. Helped my mom gave him hell.

Yes, I definitely agree with you. I have enlisted our mother to talk to him and I am talking to him too. We are trying to get her to my moms place after school is done for the summer.

You raise some very good questions. Sadly she is 9 months from 18. I think I am going to talk to PFLAG and then go from there, talk to a lawyer if needed. I found some resources near her and will make some calls. Appreciate the solid advice from you!

My 17yr old niece from a red state recently came out as trans. The other day she called me crying because my fanatical Catholic sister-in-law destroyed all of her feminine clothing. I tried talking to my brother, but he just says 'happy wife. happy life'. What can I do to help her. I am worried.
