Yeah, the Homestuck fandom is never nice lmao. People can like characters while not agreeing to them morally, that and not everybody read the Epilogues (and neither do I recommend it lol)

It's just what happens when characters are written to be villains in Homestuck from what I recall. Dirk being like how he is in the Epilogues caused the "apologist" discourse, which is also the exact same thing with Gamzee, Vriska, and Eridan back in the day lol

Personally tho, I think the one thing that killed that route is the fact that Undertale is released in the age of the internet. So a lot of players could just type Genocide Route on YT and not go through with it themselves

The Genocide/No Mercy route is supposed to be like a playground rumor that tempts completionists to witness more of the story. You essentially begin treating Undertale as just a game and killing the narrative with it, like Flowey does. It asks, "How far must you go to experience every secret?"

My personal favorite variant is Dr Megalo, you may see it in YouTube and here by Artsy Ren :)
