FIFA watching Iran developments as World Cup nears FIFA said Saturday it is keeping an eye on events in Iran after the United States launched a military strike on the nation.

Thanks Reuters but you didn’t answer my question. According to my digging no host nation of the FIFA World Cup has ever hosted a country that they were in active war with. So if the conflict is prolonged this would be unprecedented.

I know fifa corrupt yadayada and probably nothing changes.

But is there precedent? Has a World Cup nation gone to war with a country they will be hosting before during a tournament year?

Chilliwack school trustee Laurie Throness resigns after $750K hate-speech ruling for Barry Neufeld - Chilliwack Progress ‘I can longer do my job,’ Throness says adding that he doesn’t feel ‘safe’

If you can't do your job without spreading vile hate speech targeting minors, then resigning is the right call. theprogress.com/2026/02/26/c...

I also introduced her to John Oliver, or as she says the guy who sits while giving a PowerPoint presentation and somehow gets awards for it.

Last year my kid was off sick missing social studies, so I made her watch Wag the Dog. It feels like that was necessary education.

I hate it when it becomes so obvious to malicious actors how easily our politicians can be manipulated into falsehoods.

whole city resident parking permits. Something tiny like $20 a year register a vehicle to an address with the city so the city can have the data and see where communities are too car dependant and then can target services to reduce that in those areas. (2 properties 8 cars on our block)

Turn Langara golf course into a tournament ready sports park with facilities (hello new pool anyone? lighted soccer fields, pickle ball, garden walkways) and housing and seniors supports. Vancouver got vandusen and housing out of a former golf course, this land could serve far more people.

Super safe pedestrian/bike/scooter infrastructure connecting schools and community centres so kids can get to and from safely INDEPENDENTLY, protected by the design.

Imagine a city where no parent needed to “take“ their kids to school. Bet it would reduce traffic more than green lights.

In the past 5 years I have seen exactly ONE police officer in the wild (not at an event) in Vancouver. And that was exiting a building with a paramedic.

I don’t even know anyone who reports theft or vandalism or speeding anymore.

No British pantos and definitely no screenings of Mrs Doubtfire (which apparently is also a musical now)…

I still don’t understand why people aren’t completely embarrassed to openly express such strong opinions about genitals. I spend exactly 0 time concerned about people’s gender.

Oh. I like this. I now have a word to describe what I struggle with: the “singular they”

That was literally a grammar topic in my English provincial exam and drilled into us “they” could never be singular.

But yeah, honestly quite helpful.

I remember entering the workforce (under the then B.C. liberals) and having to protest “six bucks sucks!”

This is so much better.

NEW: The Chinese-language messages that accused non-ABC Vancouver councillors didn't start with Lenny Zhou, who has since apologized for them.

They started with the mayor.

Now in opening more healthcare spaces at universities and locking those students into service within our province for some amount of time, that feels better. Rejecting thousands of qualified students from these programs because of space seems ridiculous.

B.C. hospitals' low global ratings 'reflect what people already knew': Conservative MLA A BC Conservative MLA says a recent ranking of the world's best hospitals is proof that the provincial health-care system is on life support.

Excuse you. The conservative solution to our healthcare problems was to introduce private healthcare to our system. So. I’ll take the poor hospitaL ratings with my unlimited family doctor appointments instead. Your solution would be far worse.

I am allergic to some stabilizer in most makeups that burn my skin so I can only use really expensive stuff, which meant I never used it. Now I have some money I’m like ok let’s give it a try….naaaaah you now have old person skin and the stuff you need is now extra super expensive.

I was like..huh…yeah. They SHOULD rebrand

If any of you are on “the other site”, can you hunt down Charles Brockman, it is only him who writes articles correctly, attributing accidents to drivers and not cars.

We love him for this. He should get to know that we see his efforts and appreciate it.

Do we really want trainees, who are expected to make mistakes, mixed with a vulnerable population where trust with authorities is both very important and very fragile?

I mean, we have zero jurisdiction on the brightness of headlights yet the motion was crafted in such a way that it could pass. We can’t “ask Ottawa“ Because we have “assurances from the US“ and that makes a motion invalid is nonsense.
