In 2026, exactly 110 years after it first crossed this country, we will take an original Saxon motorcar, repainted in suffrage yellow—and launch the Drive for Equality, a national journey designed to shine a spotlight on the unfinished business of American democracy: the Equal Rights Amendment.

Through snowstorms, broken roads, and towns that had never seen a woman behind the wheel, they kept going—mile after mile—because they believed that America could be better than it was. Many questioned them. Many mocked them. Many insisted that women voting was impossible. www.sign4era.org

In 1916, suffragists climbed into a bright gold Saxon motorcar, and set off on an 11,000-mile journey across the United States. A small car with a mighty purpose: to awaken the country to the injustice of denying women the right to vote.
We are recreating that journey- this time for the ERA

In the 1970s and early ‘80s, Alda was a prominent supporter of the feminist movement. He campaigned for the Equal Rights Amendment, co-chairing the ERA Countdown Campaign with former First Lady Betty Ford. He traveled to unratified states to lobby legislators and spoke at major rallies. /3
