It might say something about how I view myself too I think. I don't really like or dislike how I dress at work, after all it works. I do like being relied on and being called strong, but I also hate it too.

Now I do think that says a lot about peoples relationship to gender, ie Masculinity is to be respected/feared, while femininity shows no threat and is to be domineered

and 2) I think people are less likely to mess with a clear queer goth girl who looks like she's not above punching you versus one whos all dolled up with a sunday dress and all.

I actually have thought about why I tend to present more tough girly at work and more femme when not and I think it really comes down to 1) I'm pretty utilitarian when it comes to work, so black jeans are better, especially because Im the store strong girl so I do all the lifting
