LinkedIn might be the most net-negative social media platform I've ever seen. I've never once seen a "found this banger on LinkedIn" type post; the best it ever gets is self-deprecation like this

Does anyone ENJOY that platform? Has it ever served a function, or does everyone just pretend it does?

I'm old enough to remember a year or two ago when both "we're not killing journalists that's illegal!" and "We're not bombing *hospitals* for god's sake" were major talking points. Violations of these things now no longer seem to even register.

Porn and art with sexual themes deserve to exist on their own merit, not because censoring them has knock-on effects for non-sexual content. Please stop expressing outrage by implying that censorship would be okay if it *just* affected sex workers and artists engaging with sexual themes.

It also turns out that people are MUCH more forgiving of frame drops from a bazillion physics objects careening across the screen, compared to frame drops from standing in a grassy field

Finished Donkey Kong Bananza

A profoundly cathartic gameplay loop from beginning to end. The Odyssey team crafted a true elevation of a formula they've already knocked out of the park. I can't believe how much genuine effort and passion went into the story beats of their FIRST-PARTY 3D PLATFORMER

I could see myself getting used to the default scheme if I forced myself to, but I was equally curious as to how the game would account for the alt schema. Like, "A" remains the interaction input no matter what; so I might've, on multiple occasions, smashed the shit out of a sign I meant to read

Bananza actually lets you swap the B/A actions, which was the literal first thing I did after launching the game

It absolutely makes sense for the default layout to reflect the direction of the punches, and could've been a big part of why this input-heavy direction was greenlit in the first place

Relatedly: I'm shocked Nintendo released a platformer with THIS many unique inputs. I really, really hope that they take away how people aren't seeing this as a negative; that it's ultimately preferable to the alternative of a "do everything" action that's inexplicably tied to multiple face buttons

One of the best parts about Bananza that I'm not seeing much discussion of: every single button/trigger performs a *unique* action

It's not like Odyssey where half the inputs share a function, arbitrarily locking certain techniques behind motion controls; now every move is tied to a physical input

Bananza bosses feel like their own Dorkly parody, where the joke of a giant gorilla tearing into you in less than 10 seconds is literally the gameplay loop
