Crazy week 1 but happy to say that everyone was a key part of the win this week.

Taking on more of a coaching role this season and the turnaround these guys displayed was insane to watch (and be a part of in that Game 4). We just needed a little fire under us to secure the comeback from down 0-3.

YES YES YES, I have long advocated for more complex counterpicking to add deeper strategy to tournaments. Pick/Ban systems are common in almost every other esport but Splatoon. Now the question is can teams not take 10 minutes to make a ban choice...

As a 1-trick, this would suck for me, but I would still very much welcome it. Just gotta diversify the arsenal a little.

Meanwhile I'm bundled up in chilly 70 degree SoCal...

Overall I think reworking map counterpicks would be better (NA League almost nailed it imo), but I've been floating the idea for pre-game weapon banning for years and I think it's just too much time spent for setting up a 5-minute game. But I would still love to try the idea!

This is one of my Deepsea Metro Takes. Similar to LoL/OW/Rivals character banning sequence, it would add another layer of strategy that would be fun.

HOWEVER, teams already take way too long on counterpicks, this would start pushing Bo5s to the 1 hour mark. Maybe in a structured league setting.

Many thoughts about SoCallie that I would love to chat about but I’ll keep it to this - despite coming up just short, this was top 2 most memorable SoCallies for me yet.
