On the 9 a.m. episode of Forum with Alexis, Rise East formally announced it had surpassed its goal. The work of investing $100 million in East Oakland to drive systemic change — with a focus on education, public safety and housing — has already begun.

“Thank you for covering the good news of Oakland,” Mayor Barbara Lee, who just held her first press conference since her inauguration earlier this week. Lee said she wants to change the narrative about the city. She came to the right place.
