Continued interview: Interviewer: So you felt that it served its purpose, and once Republicans were threatening to revoke transportation funds over the plaza, it wasn't worth keeping? Bowser: I'm not talking about transportation funds -- I'm talking about our autonomy. Interviewer: Home rule. Bowser: Yes. Every conversation with the President, with the Congress, they can't all start with Black Lives Matter Plaza when they should be focused on Medicaid or focused on budget matters or focused on how the federal government can get people back to work and inject life in our economy. Those are the conversations we have to have.

Worth noting: Mayor Muriel Bowser kissed the ring at Mar-a-Lago in December so Trump would force federal workers back to their offices. He fired them instead.

In July, she said she got rid of BLM Plaza to protect DC autonomy. That's not going well either.
