Voters are grown-ups. Grown-ups are responsible for their decisions. Therefore, voters are responsible for their decisions regarding voting.
There's plenty of blame to go around, but everyone who could have voted for Harris and didn't gets some.
Horrifying. Jesus Lord in heaven.

02.03.2026 14:57 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I think that's false. On the federal level you're unlikely to get a choice between 0% harm and 100% harm, but you may get the choice between 20% harm and 100% harm. That's not nothing.

It won't solve every problem all at once tomorrow but it will help some people right away and it's a pretty small ask for most people so it's worth doing.
Do you disagree?
It's unlikely we'll get someone on the national stage that ends the American Imperial system immediately, but we can choose how much harm that system does by picking less harmful candidates. And we can also significantly reduce the harm done to marginalized groups in our communities at the same time
01.03.2026 23:29 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Quite a lot, actually, especially on the local levels. Through the primary process we can choose who is eligible for office, and then we elect from that pool.
01.03.2026 23:29 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Like, am I misreading you? Because it *sounds* like what you're saying is voting is useless and should be abandoned as an element of our anti-fascist strategy. Is that what you think?

Cool story. So anyways fascists are in charge so maybe we shouldn't just throw away our political power? Why should we abandon the battlefield of elections to the enemy?
Obviously that's not *all* we should do. I also protest, do community aid, all that other cool stuff.
Why would you try to discourage people from voting? Why should we abandon any tool in the fight?

Of course, more than one person can be responsible for something. Politicians also have to run effective campaigns, and if they fail then they also get blame. This is a "both-and" situation.

If you think that if a candidate loses the voters bear zero responsibility, then which premise do you reject?
Are voters not grown-ups?
Or are grown-ups not responsible for their own decisions?
Can't be neither. You have to pick one, because that's how logic works.
P1: Grown-ups are responsible for their choices
P2: Voters are grown-ups
Conclusion: Voters are responsible for their choices. This includes the choice of voting.
Lots of folks asking me who Iβd like to vote for in 2028 and my answer reminds the same: itβs AOC.
But Iβll vote for whichever Dem the primary voters choose as their candidate.
Anyone who tries to tell you that the Democrats being in charge is identical to the Republicans being in charge is functionally a Republican shill.
Ignore them, just as you'd ignore any other fascist propaganda.
Incredible opinion. It holds that the common ICE tactic of jumping out of an unidentified rental vehicle and seizing suspected noncitizens while masked violates the Fourth Amendment because the *manner* of the seizure is incompatible with a free society governed by the rule of law.
21.02.2026 00:51 β π 11813 π 3925 π¬ 107 π 128Democrats should run this year on returning tariff revenue to Americans. Trump already said today heβs going to fight this in the courts. An easy mode way to be on the right side of the affordability issue.

17.02.2026 22:25 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Also, to be clear, I'm not saying that the only blame to go around goes on voters. This is "Yes, and" time baby. Voters are to blame for not voting correctly and also McConnell is to blame for allowing Trump to rise to prominence and also and also and also.

So what you're saying is "What if I'm in a situation where I think enough other people will do the anti-fascist thing so I don't have to?"
You know who doesn't shirk their responsibilities to fight fascists? Anti-fascists.
"But I didn't like that she supported xyz" Okay, and? We can talk about ways to fix the system so we get better choices and work to achieve those fixes, but that doesn't change the choice you had. One option was anti-fascist, the other wasn't.

"But she didn't win a primary therefore it's not democratic" Plenty of western democracies don't have primaries at all. We can debate about whether Harris was the right choice or whatever, but once she's the candidate you're at the choice above.
