He pulls Izuku closer, his grip tightening as if he’s holding on to the moment.

“Just for tonight.”

It’s all that he can give.

His breath hitches, he doesn’t know what to do. But Izuku is right there, looking at him the same way he always does—with that same sincerity, adoration, and longing. He looked so much like the stars.

Katsuki’s heart aches. He wants it too. Even just for tonight.

It hits him, like a wave crashing down all at once. He’s in love with Izuku.

Katsuki is so fucking in love with Izuku.

Katsuki could feel it all—the weight of Izuku’s hands on his shoulders, the soft breath that brushes against his cheek with every word spoken ever so gently, the music from the distance, the moon that blesses, the stars that scatter, and the quiet glow of the lights around them.

Izuku laughs softly, taking Katsuki’s hand and guiding it to the small of his back, before taking the other one into his own.

“C’mon, Kacchan, just for tonight?”

And suddenly, everything around them stills.

The same look that lingers when he’s not even looking.

Katsuki’s heart clenches yet he tries to brush it off. He raises an eyebrow, the corner of his mouth quirking up.

“Dance with you? What, you think I’m some kinda sappy romantic now?”

It’s a look all too familiar, etched into the moments they’ve shared in spaces where words aren’t necessary. How could it not be? It’s the same gaze that Izuku blesses him within the hush of their secret meetings. The same look he gets whenever their eyes cross in a crowded room.

“Dance with me?”

Izuku looks at him with a depth Katsuki can never quite place—something between sincerity and longing, though the lines blur so effortlessly.

A soft melody drifts in from the distance, familiar yet just out of reach—like a memory he can’t quite grasp. He doesn’t know where it’s from, and he has no time to ponder before a hand finds him—gentle yet certain on his shoulder.

He exhales, breath fading with the cold winter air. The moon hangs heavy above them, just like unspoken words and unfinished conversations.

“Yeah, it does.”

“Yeah?”

He keeps a distance from him. He doesn’t know why but he feels like he has to.

“The sky looks wonderful, right?”

Izuku tilts his head toward the sky, eyes full of adoration. Katsuki can see his face, a few freckles gone astray for the night. He thinks he misses them.

He rarely gets to witness a view like this, with the city’s haze always stealing it away.

Izuku is an arm-length away from him. The side of his face basks in the moonlight, a gentle breeze caresses him and it draws out a smile.

Katsuki thinks he’s privileged.
