It's #floodactionweek & I'm kicking it off in Westminster tomorrow working alongside @floodre helping to launch the brand new #floodmobile. It's packed full of #PFR & will travel into newly #flooded areas to help people during their recovery.

When @floodmary.bsky.social’s home was severely flooded by sewage in the great floods of 2000, her 3-year-old son had just been diagnosed with autism. It took 9 long months to repair. Since then she’s dedicated her life to helping others.

I headed to meet @floodmary.bsky.social at one of her advice clinics. Her flood-mobile is kitted with props to demonstrate how people can protect their homes at cost-effective ways. Simple things like covering air bricks with aluminium tape stops water coming through.

Warning from @floodmary.bsky.social of risk to safety if flood defence budgets are cut as part of the Chancellor's spending review - a move Mary describes as utterly self-defeating, flood damage likely to lead to increased spending across the board.
