Science conversations often chase buzzwords like cancer or disease-I once did too. Studying sex determination taught me that a “simple” basic question can reveal deep, far-reaching biology. Discovering Zelda’s role made it thrilling. Grateful to Erika Bach, colleagues, and my love for Drosophila.
