Like him or not, he was one of only four Mets captains...I'm sure Carter will be retired eventually (even though his number is retired in Montreal and he spent more time there than here); but Franco should have that honor as well.

There are four guys whose numbers are up there already who weren't choirboys. Franco's numbers are just as worthy as theirs....

Everyone forgets that there was another captain for the Mets besides Keith, Gary Carter & Wright - one who played on the team for over a decade & holds the NL record for games pitched.

So why is John Franco's number not retired? Please enlighten me...did he drown kittens or something?
