Kentuckian here, that visited a few years ago (was lucky to have *fantastic* weather for it, severe clear, visibility for like 100 miles), and I, at least, continue to call it Denali.

UofLouisville sports fan, mostly Volleyball, WBB, and Softball. Tech geek, mostly networking engineering, a heavy dose of systems engineering, and increasingly software engineering. Build more roundabouts, trains, and bike paths.

06.08.2025 11:53 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The products of #AI arenβt subject to copyright. Does this mean organizations who are vibe coding have no intellectual rights to the results? Iβm thinking the answer is yes. If Iβm right, I now wonder if these organizations have considered thisβ¦ or have they been too caught up in the hype?
01.08.2025 14:05 β π 0 π 3 π¬ 0 π 0I think there are two basic takeaways from that value. One, as someone else so eloquently put it, "straight to hell". Two, as soon as you walk outside from air conditioning, your glasses will fog over. (Maybe a small part of "straight to hell")
28.07.2025 14:29 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That breaks using IP literals in URLs, no? Admittedly not a common use case, and a reasonable decision for a home network, but maybe not realistic broadly.

The first thing is "backward compatible" with the second.
I agree.
The worst I've ever run into is Juniper generated JSON docs from state data. Ie, like what you'd get from 'show interface detail | display json'
18.07.2025 15:43 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Ah yeah, if you're talking about how to define the model to match, then that's worthy of some exploration.
18.07.2025 12:25 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Does your pydantic model not match your json structure? Because if they do match it's only like 2 lines of code.
18.07.2025 12:03 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I mean, obviously 1st century Christians in Jerusalem had a god-given right to own an AR-15.

08.07.2025 10:24 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Hah, used to.
The cool kids have moved on to EVPN Route Types these days.
Hate to leave three on, but ok. Defense time.

10.06.2025 01:20 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm in the "high 30s in the shade is shorts weather" camp, but I recognize that I'm very much in a minority for that. π€·π»ββοΈ
08.06.2025 13:51 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Promo card for the KYNUG Summer event. June 26th, 4pm-6:45pm. Admission, food, beverages, and can stay for the Lexington Legends game afterward, all free. It includes a picture of me and the presentation title, "Eight Networking Hot Takes". RSVP at https://www.usnua.com/kynug-summer-event-2025-lexington
So, I suck at self-promotion, but I'll be giving the main talk at the summer KYNUG (Kentucky Network Users Group) meeting.
The talk will be, "Eight Networking Hot Takes". I believe baskets of tomatoes will be available for pelting (not really).
It should be a fun discussion!
I'm with Bart, I'm pretty much using uv for everything Python these days, even doing a quick 'uv init' for quick ad-hoc scripts. He's got some stuff in this thread for converting from poetry to uv which is awesome...I just never did much with poetry so don't have any projects needing to convert.
28.05.2025 10:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I would like to see a similar ruling based on the officer creating the very danger that they use as a rationalization for their actions, but I recognize that wasn't argued/briefed in this round.

Even at that, tho, it'd probably be pretty heavy.
Oh, the dress code is fantastic! Overall it sounds like someone to be, and was, treasured.

Why is it called commencement, anyway?
I love how your hobby leads inevitably to another, playing the game of, "What's this company named now?"

03.05.2025 11:21 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Cheers for a fellow techie (open source/Linux/Home Assistant) named Jeff that's also a volleyball fan.
It's getting a little bit uncanny.
I'd love to collect another *NUG t-shirt, but that's a bit of a hike for me.

14.04.2025 15:17 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Just think, you'll get to have that same conversation again when it's time to move them out, with the added discussion point of how much it'll cost.
09.04.2025 18:10 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0They've been doing this for 20 years, I assure you they're aware of the implications.
Consider the amount of mud and such that won't be left behind and need to be removed. That alone probably makes this tactic worth it.
Why do technology vendors want to restrict who can get access to their product/service documentation? I may not be a customer, but it seems to me that, if your product/service is any good, *anyone* knowing more about your product/service is a good thing.
Are they ashamed of their wares?
Yeah, regardless, it's bizarre, hard to figure out, and I see how it could be a pain for you
03.04.2025 15:54 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It doesn't look like it's even by shipment, tho (necessarily). My last order had two items in a single box that were listed on separate "orders". And another box with items that were on the same order as ones of the items in the first box.
All in the same "checkout" on their website.
Sheesh.
