These vehicles are child killers

That child, and the one yesterday, were both killed by a truck.

It is possible to make cities safe for young pedestrians like this. Many places have achieved this. For now, through our relative inaction, we are deciding that the lives of children are a price worth paying for the vastly overstated convenience of driving.

Exactly, and because of that, losing your license is a relatively extreme punishment. It’s like house arrest forever. You can’t really participate in society without a car in most of CA.

Today's podcasts in the past were journalists interviewing someone for an hour, then picking out the most important parts, doing some research, and writing an article that you could read in ~5 mins that was useful.

Well put and that’s my issue with NPR News, too. A lot of reporting that’s “here’s a deep societal problem about which we offer no ideas for solutions and if anything try to scuttle any hope for solutions you might have.”
