It’s a shame that the best use for this property isn’t a one story grocery store and massive parking lot, and that Safeway isn’t a public benefit corporation that makes large-scale infrastructure investments into safe public spaces and housing. And sold its asset to a developer instead.

Indeed. When they rounded up the Japanese Americans, myself and my family included, for internment during WWII out of fear over Japanese spies and saboteurs, two thirds of us were U.S. citizens.
