The only thing I want to make a student do when they finish a book is take a breath and move on to their next book. Sometimes they know what that is, sometimes they seek my advice. Having to do a project is a dis-incentive to reading.

Teachers, what are some alternatives to traditional book reports that you use to gauge students' understanding of a text?

Book talks? Movie trailers? I'd love to hear more about what is working for you.

AI detectors often yield false positives, particularly for ESL & neurodivergent learners —raising ethical concerns about fairness and bias. Education is about preparation, not punishment.
