Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice, I think with a little bit more stylization in the shading and lighting, this could be insane. It's beautiful as is but has a lot of potential, especially for a test. Well, that's my opinion, after all, because I'm a huge fan of heavily stylized environments.

We are proud to announce that the first playable prototype for Sanctia is released! 🎉
It is focusing on the swordfights only. If you want to give it a try and give us feedback, you can do so at the link below:

Drawning of a squared chunk of a terrain, paint style. The terrain is traversed by a bright river and decorated with vibrant trees and vegetation.
Our talented artist @hekki-aart.bsky.social is conceptualizing some amazing looking chunks for the exploration demo !

A screenshot of a character covered in a procedural blood and dirtyness effect, with a painting effect style.
Added a bloody and dirty procedural effects, with an additional "absorbent" attribute in the paint material to simulate a tissue aborbing a liquide like blood. It's quite fun balancing things out and getting those results!

Colorfull night sky in-game screenshot. We can see the sihlouette of a mountain range in the distance, the horizon is engulfed in a dark purple atmosphere. Atop the mountains, a strange nebula is glowing red.
Colorfull night sky in-game screenshot. We can see the sihlouette of a colinne range in the distance, the horizon is engulfed in a dark purple atmosphere. We can see nebula clouds with a shade of pink and green. There is a yellow-ish moon glowing at the top left of the screen.
Oh yeah, it's all coming together !
The night sky now has... stars ✨! Also the paint effect is now less blurry, more vibrant and glowy. I kinda love the ambience of it now.
Feel free to tell us what you think of it!

Night time landscape inside the game, only the silhouette of the terrain is visible inside a thick purple fog. A very strange nebulla is visible atop the mountain range, clashing with a brish orangy glow.
Screenshot of the night time landscape, this time it's from the opposite direction. a yellowish moon is visible and the galaxy we are inside of is glowing with shades of green, yellow and pink.
Like the previous screenshots, but this time the view is focused on the bright and colorfull gas clouds inside the galaxy.
This screenshot shows the strange nebula, but the sun is almost comming out of the horizon, hiding almost every night sky elements, except the nebula who is still bright enough to be seen.
What's a beautiful sunset for, without a proper night sky? For our #Sanctia game, we wanted a vibrant night ambiance!
Here are some work-in-progress screenshots of the pre-alpha in-game terrain and skybox, enjoy !

Then when you have one pc that is minimum, compare cpu/gpu to the most common steam survey components using benchmark sites, then when you find the most popular match, it's your minimum requirement.

If you dont have those, sent it to friends and ask them a screenshot of their task manager, and their fps. Usually the minimum specs have more than enough ram/vram to run the game and cpu/gpu that can play at 30 fps minimum.

Look up how much ram and vram the app takes in various situation, test it on servral hardware and look up if its limited by cpu or gpu. A good first step will be testing on an old laptop, then a low tier pc, then a high, until the game runs good.

Game dev is a task so enourmous that I think it's not a problem, you musn't rely on it too much, but if it helps by explaining basic stuff for you, it's fine. The problem is using ia generate art in the actual game. If you want to learn godot I think they are some good human made ressources for that

Made the thesis in a computer science laboratory, where my teachers were working. Got one that was specialized in procedural noise and texture in real time that gave me my thesis theme.

You can always dm me if you need some help/advance explanation on the subject. The screenshots I post are all 100% procedural and I did my master thesis on this very subject. I would be always glad to help a fellow dev.

Great work, but I think the wave could gain from behing a little more random. If you are using sine functions to generate them, try to add 2 or more with different scale and frequency. Or maybe use a perlin-like noise/texture ?

Oh, I see, that quite good arleady. This kind of art direction could greatly benefit from procedural textures, but the learning curve is quite steep at times, and it is time consuming. Just asked out of curiosity.

Oh, you're in for a hell of a run ! Folliage is kinda hard to optimize/do, yours look good for now. It seems like you are using a texture ? Maybe trying a vertex based approach with no texture/transparency could be a good thing to test.

I know some fellow artists that are very displeased with the time it takes to render their videos on cycles. Blender seems to punish you for your badly optimize topology/materials/settings when you least except it.
