They have a few stages of growth, the bud, the bloom, and the fully open flower. The buds are dark blue, but theres a white fuzz over the tops. They are not usable at this stage. The blooms have the lighter blue petals and the purple of the cone in the middle can be seen. The petals arent very effective in this state either. When it finally bloms, the petals should be squared over the edges. They should also be white, except for where they're connected to the cone. The inner petal should be a very light blue, and the cone should be a lighter purple."

The ingredient list has little hearts as bullet points. the journal page says "For a small batch of Knockout Oil, you’re going to need time and a few containers. You cannot work on this under direct sunlight. It’s best to do so at night or when it’s so foggy that light cannot get through. Please make sure you keep a few of my black out bottles to store it in so the oil won’t bleach and be useless. Do keep in mind that this one is different than the one I usually make, as it's one that can be made in days rather than months. As such, it will not keep for years as you may be used to. This recipe is specifically for the jar with the blue around the rim. Ingredients: 10 Full Noxi Daisy Heads Vinegar Vanishwood Sap 4 Handfuls of Mourning Pine Needles 1 Big Handful of Mourning Pine Inner Bark DO NOT USE THE OUTER BARK, I DO NOT CARE IF IT SEEMS EASIER! Dory I mean it!!! And An Edible Oil of Your Choice Pluck the petals from the Noxi Daisy heads, and rinse them under clean water. Pluck and rinse the Mourning Pine Needles as well. Put the bark, petals, needles, in the jar, and then fill it with Equal Parts Vinegar and Vanishwood sap. Close the jar and make sure it seals well, then stick it in a dark space for at least two days. The petals are to stay in there until they turn DARK purple. If they’re light purple or blue then they haven’t been sitting long enough. The Bark should be grey. The tips of the needles should be paler.

Do not dump the vinegar into poor Rhonda’s sink. Dory I mean it. Pay attention and make sure you strain the vinegar into a separate container. You can keep the needles and petals for me, I’d be able to find another use for them when I come back to you. You will need the bark. Put it on a try and throw it into the oven on low to help get the moisture out if it Mix equal parts PURPLE vinegar with your oil of choice. Keep it on the stove on low heat, and make sure a window is open so the fumes don’t get to you. Do not turn up the heat, it won’t make it infuse faster, and will likely ruin the oil. While the oil is simmering, shred the Mourning Pine Bark as thinly as you can. You'll have to add it to the oil and vinegar mixture once it turns a cloudy blue. Do not worry when the mixture turns pink, that's to be expected. It will get darker as it infuses. Stir every hour if you can, to make sure things are coming together. Once the oil has a shimmer to it and the purple color is even then you strain it. Let cool and settle for at least a day. Transfer to blackout bottles and store in a cool dry place.
