I think the thing my kid likes most about soccer is running, so I can't wait til he's old enough to try track. Or better yet, cross country.

Then I guess this is club soccer bc the coaches are paid. But the "travel" is pretty much all within the city of Chicago or nearby burbs. Either way, it's too much for kindergartenders!

I think he would love gymnastics! He has SO much energy and is constantly throwing his body around.

This is one reason Chicago is so great. The 18-mile lakefront trail is such a gem.

Exactly. He really loves soccer, but he's an athletic kid generally, so maybe he'll fall in love with something else. That's the beauty of childhood!

We have done both Super Soccer Stars and PSG Academy.

That sucks! At his young age, there are still other options, but I've heard it getting to be that way as the kids get older.

One of the most surprising things about parenting in this day and age has been how early the Youth Sports Machine enters the picture. My son plays soccer. He loves it, and he's pretty good at it, so naturally, he's been invited to join a travel team for 5-year-olds.
