An update on the community campaign to save cohealth: Victorian Parliament just voted in favour of a Greens motion to commit to an emergency funding package for cohealth.

This Friday there will be a special @criticalmassmelb.bsky.social, in memory of 19 year old Will Richter.

If you have a bike, scooter or skates, come along to show support to his family and community, and to show the state government we need protected bike lanes.

Yeah it seems crazy to me how different the penalty is to parking fines etc. I asked staff a few days ago what we can do to prompt a change, but I suspect a community lead petition or email campaign could go a long way as well! Just seems like a (very unfair) glitch in the system…

One in four state roads get worst possible safety rating A quarter of Victoria’s state-run roads have been given the lowest possible safety rating in an assessment that reveals the scale of work needed to reduce serious and fatal crashes.

The Age did a good article on the report, but doesn’t seem to have looked at this weird gap between design ratings and “FSI” stats.

AustRoads released their star ratings for road design last week. But some roads that have a high star rating for design for vehicle occupants have really terrible “fatal and serious injury” stats.

I want to know how often these depart, and where.

1 in 10 Americans rarely or never drive a car Among U.S. adults, those who live in the Northeast (17%) are more likely than those in the South (10%), West (8%) and Midwest (7%) to be nondrivers.

Fascinating study. Note that this is 1 in 10 adults. Factor in children and the percentage of non-driving Americans is much higher. Cities and towns need to account for their mobility needs too.

Welsh people and government at national and local level should be very proud of their record in reducing urban/village road injuries and fatalities by 25% in the last 2 years by implementing the national default 20mph limit. Well done Wales, saving life and lives. bit.ly/4ppl030
