That sounds really cool ๐Ÿ‘€ but quite complex design-wise indeed. Do you plan to include an overworld with catching mechanics and everything?
I love the idea of customising each creature's moveset and powers. Sounds like there'd be a lot of fun for players experimenting with builds ๐Ÿ˜

It's a tough choice, but if I had to pick I think the new one looks more fitting. And as someone who spends a lot of hours looking at screens every day, dark themes are always a win for me ๐Ÿ˜‚

It's bone animation using a bunch of Skeleton2Ds setup with IK ๐Ÿ˜Ž. And to link the bones to the sprites I'm using RemoteTransform2D nodes. Although now that I think on it, just making them children of the bones would be simpler ๐Ÿ˜….

Something a little different. An in-editor look at what the boss phase 2 scene looks like after all the bones and IKs are set up. In the interest of being able to see anything, I hid the bone gizmos though ๐Ÿ˜‚

Or maybe the paddle could charge the ball with energy when you flick it, which can be used to damage enemies. And to recharge you have to go back down to the paddles for another flick ๐Ÿค”

That sounds so cool! You could maybe give the ball AoE abilities too, or effects that trigger on a bounce or if it's travelling over a certain speed ๐Ÿค”
Like it could shoot little projectiles or explode when it bounces, damaging nearby enemies, or leave a damaging trail when moving fast ๐Ÿค”
