This is sort of understandable when dealing with COVID-era first year undergrads bc they don’t understand that I will be *reading* their essays…but honestly, no excuses here for anyone who thinks they’re, like, a grown-up

AI advocates, to a person, are literally unable to tell good from bad. When you say you can, they think you're *lying*.

I ask bc after years of routine disregard for my credentials by faculty who clearly don’t regard me as an actual colleague whose time or opinion or work as an advisor is worthy of respect, I have no perspective left.

Mild affront? Mid-level annoyance? Incandescent rage?

So, say you’re an alt-ac third-space staff/adjunct person who’s scheduled for a presentation in a class that was arranged weeks ahead of time, and you walk through a rainstorm and flooded campus to find a note on the whiteboard from the prof casually cancelling class. How mad should you be?

I didn't spend 10 years in mines of academia to be told ignorance is morally equal knowledge.

We know exactly how LLMs work.

imagine relying on AI to write your bio and then having the nerve to say you're witty and full of personality

Especially galling considering that Sen. Blackburn said nothing when a professor at this *same university* last year was unmasked by antifascists as a popular, pseudonymous neo-Nazi propagandist who attended the deadly Unite The Right rally in Charlottesville.

Yeah, if you're in the media and someone insists that "they" were celebrating his murder and therefore "they" have to suffer some sort of retribution, you have an obligation to ask who "they" are and what, specifically, they did to celebrate this.

You can't just let them throw that gas on the fire.
