The entire basis for this issue in one quote.

“…misinformation and confusion is circulating everywhere about New Jersey’s new flood elevation regulation.”

While flooding may be the most visible of climate impacts, #ExtremeHeat is the most deadly. In #NJ we have developed an Extreme Heat Resilience Action Plan that identifies over 140 #ClimateResilience actions by state agencies to address this silent killer.

No Natural Disasters A hazard can only become a disaster once it impacts on society or community. A hazard is natural, disasters are not.

Also, there's no such thing as a #NaturalDisaster. The term is incorrect and misleading, suggests that there's nothing we can do, and is used to avoid action. Some hazards are natural and unavoidable, but disasters are almost always a result of human actions and decisions. #NoNaturalDisasters

For the 500th time, #NJ needs state-funded stable funding for #ClimateResilience. We can act MUCH faster and implement NJ priorities. That we continue to rely on fed disaster funding, particularly with this federal administration, is just negligence at this point.

Invest in #ClimateResilience.

Despite significant snow accumulation across the state last week, New Jersey's Statewide Drought Warning remains in effect. (1/2)

I’m deeply grateful to my agency partners who have devoted their time to the Interagency Council over the last six years. Together, we are making real progress in preparing for and responding to climate change impacts here in #NJ. I look forward to continuing that work in 2026 and beyond.

This is the last action of the Council under Gov. Murphy who established the Council through EO89 in 2019. During that time, the Council has established a strong policy foundation for #NJ and implemented action across the state that make us safer and more resilient to the impacts of climate change.
