Lot of talk about the new MacBook Neo, but I think it’s a pretty genius move by Apple. I’ve never had nor wanted a Mac. Lifelong PC guy. This is the first I’ve given serious consideration to buying.

I don’t think it’s dawned on people as severely as is needed, but CBS barring interviews and mandating censorship in news due to FCC fears is fascism. I do not mean that lightly. And Stephen Colbert doesn’t get nearly enough credit for his continuous fighting against the capitulation of CBS.

The Epstein scandal is taking down Europe’s political class. In the US, they’re getting a pass. As Europe moves to address its shame, it’s highlighting the comparative lack of accountability in the U.S.

Pretty damning indictment of American political sentiment and a general sense of capitulation to oligarchy.

The design is a fusion of an almost alien life form and a marble statue of a Greek god (or titan, a la Prometheus), which creates something that can be simultaneously disgusting and, yes, beautiful.

As I think more about the design of the creature in Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankenstein, I keep thinking about this quote from Mary Shelley; Victor’s initial reaction to the living creation.

“His limbs were in proportion, and I had selected his features as beautiful. Beautiful! —Great God!”

As a lover of literature, I adored Ian McEwan’s What We Can Know.

As someone who could perchance call themselves a historian (on a good day), I am definitely going to have an existential crisis thanks to this.
