The original gatehouse to the old Tudor Palace of Richmond, just off Richmond Green. Little else of the palace remains.
A stone plaque on a wall reveals the history of Richmond Palace, thought to be Elizabeth Iβs favourite home and where she died on March 24th 1603.
A sketch by Anton Wyngaerde showing Richmond Palace in all its glory. Pepperpot covered turrets, many outhouses and side buildings. Standing on the river Thames.
A misty day on the Thames at Richmond, a heron in the distance plus a few timbers visible. The last remaining features of the old Tudor/Stuart jetty that once served Richmond Palace.
A long lost Tudor Palace, very few traces of it remain. On the foreshore a few timbers of the old Tudor/Stuart jetty, also a gatehouse off Richmond Green. Thought to be Elizabeth Iβs favourite palace & where she died on March 24 1603. We have only Wyngaerdeβs sketches to show us what it looked like

Another sunny but freezing day, so took myself out for a walk along the cliff top and down to the sea.
Listened to the late great Iain Banks' Paperback Writers show - one of my favourite writers, and I enjoyed his music choices. Available on Sounds for a few days-

A panting of a small blonde girl - the artistβs daughter - sitting on the centre chair of three, between two tall windows through which bright sunlight shines. She is turned away from us, preoccupied in play or handicraft. Shadows from the windows are cast on the blue wall that faces us.
A painting of a woman in a 19th century parlour; she sits on a dark yellow chaise longue reading a book that rests on the polished wooden table in front of her, her head is resting on her right hand. Light enters from the left of the painting, illuminating a large vase of red poppies on the table, some petals from which have fallen on it.

People think it must be weird to have a famous neighbour, but Lowly Worm is just a nice, regular guy.
