Excellent episode! Off the bat, Gaku Yano's direction showcases an appealing predilection for flat shading. And more importantly, it gestures towards the incoming rift between the two leads: separated into different frames, emphasizing their distance, making them lean in opposite directions

Ikoku Nikki isn't so naive to believ you can thoroughly comprehend a different person, powerful as connections may be. Interesting that the episode likens other people's expressions of their feelings to other languages

Interesting that he sees himself as an artist with no ultimately defining work. Maeda is tough on his achievements and his somewhat reactive drive to create, but even then, he sees that room for improvement in his legacy & skills as an opportunity to continue making things. Kinda uplifting!

If I had any complaint, it'd be that the needlessly explicit script can make things inelegant. Watching a dying man's grip loosen and the person who carried him silently reminiscing about that type of desperation is powerful, but turning to the camera to explain all of that deflates it a bit
