I was devastated to hear the news that a fire broke out in @southriverartstudios last week. Artists not only lost their art, they also lost the tools and spaces they needed to continue to create. I am donating the proceeds from the sale of this print I made at a Big Ink workshop hosted by SRAS.

The best way I can describe why Wikipedia is the optimal model for all of us is that it is a knowledge base that is crowdsourced BY HUMANS with discussions, revisions, moderation BY HUMANS. It is also transperant (we can see who makes edits)

The dumb AI slop is like an opaque synthesis by machines.

I’ve started transferring my design for #bigink2025 to the 36x24” wood block! I feel like I’m a little behind on this but it feels good to move onto the physical block so here hoping I build some momentum!

For a while now I've desperately wanted to make a new woodblock print, but I was super nervous lol. I did it though!! Based on a picture of a restaurant at dusk I made when I was in Japan. I'm super happy :))

It’s #mothweek and to honor these under appreciated pollinators I’ve illustrated a Giant Leopard Moth in the shadow of a Hoary Bat on the hunt! I may end up carving this into a linoleum block.

Recent commission I completed for a t-shirt design! Congaree National Park is home to the incredible synchronous fireflies, who, as the name suggests, flash in unison! Would love to plan a trip to see them one day!

it’s a block i carved two years ago as a part of a small birds of fruit trees series, but printed only recently. i like the textures used, especially on the bird #printmaking

The most intimidating part of carving a giant woodblock for the Big Ink workshop is coming up with a design that 1. I can actually execute in this new medium and 2. I like enough to commit to. #bigink

I’ve noticed, if you disturb their web, they voluntarily shake and then just stop on a dime. According to Reddit, common in orb weavers. And if you really get too close they drop out of the web like a base jumper. But they have a little safety line to get back up once you’ve backed off.

Anecdotally: last year I had two Joro spiders living on my porch. This year, I count at least 20 spiderlings.
