It's so easy to not post assassination memes. Genuinely the only thing bad about this situation is that the mods ordinarily don't ban the big edgelord accounts for this stuff so a large constituency thinks it's normal to "it's just a meme bro" about shootings and "consequences".

What does "a negative consequence follows" do to describe a still image of Charlie Kirk in a way that would be consistent with Link's excellent advice of "explain it simply as though you were describing it over the phone?"

Here's the thing, though: I don't think you need to believe it's a legitimate threat in order to say "no, actually, you don't get to be here any longer." I think Link's post is enough to warrant a permaban. The fact that the admins might have been acting in bad faith is irrelevant.

I like what Link has posted over the past few years, but it strains credulity beyond breaking that there's not some level of implicit threat (in a vague, stochastic sense, not an "I'm going to kill you" sense) in repeating Jay's "negative consequences" w/ Kirk right before his murder.

I'm not sure how repeating someone's words while putting up an image of a person moments before their murder is anything other than an implicit threat.

I think a permaban is totally reasonable in that situation, frankly, and while I'd be inclined for something lighter it would absolutely involve at LEAST several weeks off to cool your heels and think about your behavior. That's absolutely an implicit threat.
