Grinding big knives

Here I'm working on a Kiritsuke, a large Japanese kitchen knife. Hollow grind on the back, and flat grind on the front. It's a first for me making a knife like this, but slow and steady does it. Pluss checking many reference images.

Upsetting

This is why I love my anvil. I had to bring out the 2 kg hammer for this, but more importantly having the upsetting block on the anvil makes this kind of work so much easier.

Drifting angles holes

This is my very janky process for pre drilling and then drifting holes at an angle. It's not pretty, and not exactly rocket surgery, but it got the job done.

There's probably better and cleaner ways of doing this, but it worked.

Bending small J-hooks

It's quick and simple work, when you get into the rhythm of it. This is the style I usually make for my sci-fi and fantasy themed coat racks, but I guess they might look alright by themselves too. what do you think?

Making tiny curls

Could have used a pair of scrolling tongs, but somehow it just always feels faster, and easier to make them small, if I just do it with the hammer instead.

Making Dust

I was processing down some oak from some old staves of a whiskey barrel, to turn into handle scales, and got a bit mesmerized by the swirls in the dust.
