Despite being operated by pacific crest, it still operates as a ‘show up and go’ route (no reservations needed) as far as I’m aware

Btw, the Coast Starlight route costs about the same as the inland route on most days (at least in coach) so I woudln’t expect to receive much from them. But worth a try I suppose..

The best way to ask for compensation is to call and talk to customer relations. In order to talk to them you have to speak to a regular agent first, then ask to be xferred to customer relations. Then you can plead your case
