Trying to figure out how I can channel my gripes with the anime into either 1) Setsuri fic that explores what I would have like to see for them or 2) an original story that more robustly covers the things that made me obsessed with the game

I actually did enjoy episode 20 overall, more so than just about any other recent episode

Like, if you can ignore all of the anime's structural problems (admittedly a tall order), it is a fun episode with lots of emotional character beats

maybe petit depotto did not understand they made a dating sim for ace people after all 😔

I think the anime does a disservice to Yuriko in general by emphasizing her mysterious aura & supernatural abilities

It's not that she doesn't have that side of her in the game, but somehow it makes it easier to see her more human "traumatized teenage cult survivor" side, too

On the other hand, one fun interpretation/headcanon: episode 10 made Yuri realize that they weren't usually a woman, so they just assumed that that made them male...until they reach that movie loop and have a similar revelation about not being a man, either

On the one hand I do think the anime intends "default" Yuri to be read as male, so if they have a different design here, it's because they're not male
