Twenty Years After the Storm
What home meant before, and after, Hurricane Katrina
20 years ago this month, Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans. For so many New Orleanians, our lives are demarcated by this moment. If someone ask you about an event or memory from the past, we say “was it before or after the storm?” On this twentieth anniversary, I wrote about going back home.

No shit. Same thing happened to the initial Jewish support that Hitler had. Who could’ve seen this coming?

Most of this is them talking about the Johntay Porter case and the one tangential link to the Malik Beasley case (which has nothing to do with Beasley actually gambling btw). I do have a theory about why Moose (or his boy) was so pissed at Beasley, but that also nothing to do with MB betting.

I’m guessing you didn’t watch this, because exactly none of it is about Malik Beasley gambling. Like I said . . .

There is no evidence that he has a gambling problem. There is a lot of evidence that he can’t manage his money worth a damn.

lol. Now you just making shit up to try to be right. Cool story bro. If you just wanted to raise your self esteem by calling someone dumb because they couldn’t read a font then you could’ve just said that. Instead you want to argue against the known history of a font.

The guy who invented italics —Aldus Mantius—stated that he did so to replicate cursive handwriting, like what are we doing here.
08.08.2025 16:58 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0
lol. you literally encountered a person who couldn’t read italics because they couldn’t read cursive.

Also, it’s weird that you would use that definition (which perfectly describes italics fonts) as some kind of refutation. Like, look at the fonts, that’s literally what they’re mimicking.

You’re gonna have argue this one with the dictionary. Obviously cursive handwriting preceded printing, it goes back to the ancient Egyptians, but italics only purpose is to be a printing font in cursive. Which is why someone who can’t read cursive could struggle with an italic font.

My good friend, if it was italics, it was cursive. Italics is literally a cursive font.

Jimi has to win for “All Along the Watchtower” because after Dylan heard the cover he only performed Jimi’s version of the song himself. No other cover that I know of can make that claim. Having said that Billy Stewart’s version of “Summertime” is—whew! youtu.be/CDLDl0_pt_k?...

This is fucking brilliant. The arrangement sounds like Ahmad Jamal meets the Carpenters.

It’s true they made up the name, but it was mostly industrial and warehouse space. Wasn’t many folk living there before gentrification.

My reaction to that completely batshit press briefing by Tulsi Gabbard in which she accused Obama of “treasonous conspiracy” is that whatever is in the Epstein files about Trump must be really really bad
