RIP Ray Laflamme, gone too soon.
Ray was a stellar scientist, the founding director of the IQC and of CIFAR's Quantum Information program, but more importantly a warm & generous human who built community and helped many (particularly junior researchers).
May his memory be a blessing.

RIP Ray. One of the great pioneers of quantum computing and quantum information. I will miss his joyous spirit, his amazing smile, and the fun we had discussing this crazy quantum world.

We mourn the loss of one of the founders of the QEC (Knill-Laflamme) conditions and one of the first to write down the five qubit code (aka the Laflamme code). errorcorrectionzoo.org/c/stab_5_1_3

👻 We ain’t afraid of no ghost!
A new #arXiv paper from our team proposes the 'ghost protocol’ to enable AMO qubits to catch up with superconducting qubits, which lag in #QEC cycle speeds.
It addresses the challenges of scalable #QuantumErrorCorrection in the context of fast transversal logic👇🧪

Thanks! So the x axis is the inverse of (prob(inject+cultivate success)* prob(decode above CG|shot survived inject+cultivate))? For a phys err rate, isn't reject rate of inject+cultivate fixed? If yes, then x axis is just 1/prob(decode above CG) & the axis label could be more specific for clarity.

Hi Craig, can you explain how the quantity "expected attempts per kept shot" is obtained. How does it depend on the discard rate of post selection? What is the independent variable that you control in the simulations you use to plot Fig 14?
