A lot of the energy assistance programs have been cut this year and going into winter with the inability to pay for warmth and assistance to eat? People are gonna die. (Only two of the five states I serviced had any full protection from shut off in winter due to age, illness, or need.)

It's bad for people who are having short term emergencies, because they'll never qualify for any of the programs. You had the 411 network to try to connect them to local orgs/churches etc to find piecemeal help.

My last job was working at an electric utility in the dept that helps customers connect with assistance programs in five different states. The level of poverty necessary to have assistance to keep your power on is ridiculous.
