Oh f*cking f*ck, I know our leader is a spineless servile coward, but we don't need to be involved in a war caused by unprovable propaganda where 'victory' is vague and undefined! We've been here before, and all we got were losses of brave individuals who died or were injured serving their country

I quite enjoy sheep liver (or "lambs fry" as it was known down this way). Unfortunately the supermarkets and butchers don't tend to stock it as only some old people will buy it, meaning that to be profitable it's no longer a cheap cut like it used to be. Ditto lambs kidneys (sighs in elderly).

TESS confirms what we saw with Kepler and K2 - on average, ***every single small red star has a planet around it***! And a short-period one at that (<30 days).

And you know what the galaxy is mostly made of?

Small red stars.

PLANETS. PLANETS EVERYWHERE!!!

Happy weekend pondering that, everyone.

Would I be right in assuming that if they could support life as we understand it, the planet would need a really strong geomagnetic field (and would probably have awesome aurora activity)?

For a while there every victorian election included "high speed rail from Melbourne to Geelong/Ballarat/Warrnambool" being rolled out (and rolled up and never spoken of again after the election).

Oh heavens, that's way worse. As someone who's a bit arachnophobic (or as I call it "has common sense"πŸ™‚) my drooling moron reaction is a blessing by comparison. In my case I convinced the hospital staff, I'd use the painkillers as often as required if they'd give me painkillers that didn't zonk me.

That said, thank you for providing facts for this issue to be discussed apon. This is what makes bluesky a good platform.

Hmm, Restaurants will probably include fast food chains, and "fish and most meat" is a loophole you could drive a highway through. It's going to depend on specific legislation, and how US beef is in any way economically competitive. Given our current government is servile, I remain unsure.

27.02.2026 09:25 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Ok, that's not the way I've heard it explained. It was always "we've opened our markets to US beef", rather than "The US is finally producing beef we can accept". Thank you for clarifying that point. I still say country of origin should be labeled however.

Hell no. We need to know if we're buying Australian or American Beef. It needs to be clearly labeled as such. And given the orange czar has spontaneously put a 15% tariff on all Australian imports, why are we still lowering our biosecurity laws to import their lesser quality products?

I'm so glad pain is not part of the problem (it so often is). For me, the first and last few minutes of a morphine dose were nice but for the main part it was like my brain was switched into neutral and I didn't like that at all. I'll take some pain over insensibility anytime.

We need an edit function πŸ˜‚

Be assured, I shall provide tales of puttering and grumbling (though I am unsure if I should grumble about posting about grumbling. Such almost recursive issues remain unknown. I'm new to this πŸ˜‚).

I thought the weird weather was just down this way (very sw victoria), sorry it's affecting you as well. Our vegetable patch hasn't done well this year either. And the pear tree & Apricot trees got stripped by cockatoos before the fruit ripened. Our cherry tree did ok at least!

Our dog discovered a lone goose egg (layed and forgotten by our geese), promptly broke it open, rolled in it and then ate it! And so we had a kelpie who thought smelling like a bad goose egg was magnificent. And so we had to take him to a dog wash and get him clean. He endured it, but was NOT happy.

Cool (on both)! I remember (bits of) having morphine on demand, it was wild and made everything fun (provided you remembered it, which was flaky).

So glad you're getting better! πŸ€—

SlΓ‘inte indeed (Traffic cone and '70s policewoman's hat on standby)! In other news centrelink has caught up with reality and moved me onto the pension, so I'm officially retired! According to my youngest Niece I must now "putter around and grumble about everything". I find this achievable!πŸ˜‚

Lovely! Ours are older but the weird spring/summer weather seems to have thrown the ripening off this year. Oh well, at worst I guess I can use them to try and create a hideous amount of homebrew cider.πŸ˜‚
