Well it's done. So many hours gone. It's been the bane of my life for the last two weeks. So many broken branches! Hand carved from boxwood (bird and leaves) walnut (branches) and oak (scrolls).

I've had the loveliest afternoon in my little polytunnel putting in seeds, with lots of birdsong and warmth 💛
I found two of these little egg sacs suspended under my staging which apparently belong to a Pirate Spider, (Ero furcata cambridgei).
Hoping to spot them when they hatch out 🙂🕷️

A common redshank wades through shallow, still water, lifting one bright orange-red leg mid-step. Its soft brown upperparts and pale, finely speckled underparts are clearly visible, along with a straight bill that fades from red at the base to dark at the tip. Gentle ripples spread around its legs, and the bird’s full reflection is mirrored crisply in the calm surface below.

A Hoverfly with dark brown eyes and a longish snouth and a dark reddish-brown abdomen. It is feeding on a deep-pink Betony flower.

Talking about Hoverflies, this little one was feeding on our Betony plant last summer.
It is a male Common-snout Hoverfly, latin name, Rhingia campestris.
It has the nickname of "Heineken fly" as with its long snout, it reaches the parts of tubular flowers other flies can't. 😂
