🙄… gah!!

I like working from home. Means I can play with stuff whilst on full teams meetings.

Still going strong 36 hours in.

Both machines I was using /dev/diskX where X was the number. On the one machine it was as slow as all hell but on the other using exactly the same command and the same IDE to USB adapter it was WAY quicker. Either which way - it doesn't really matter as the TiBook failed to boot afterwards. D'oh!

Now I'm looking forward to the next 100 to reach the 1,000 subscribers milestone!

I hate posting stuff like this as sometimes people unsubscribe - but for the moment I can say 'I've only gone and bloody done it!' 900 subscribers. 200 since the start of the year. Thank you to each and every one of you. I'm thrilled!

I should have just used the M4 Mac mini in the studio instead of the MBP. It fell asleep and borked up the image creation. On the Mac mini it's WAY faster. Should be done in a few minutes.

Man...making disk images using DD is hellaslow for some reason. I'm making an image of my TiBook which I'm going to write to a new SSD. So far it's been about an hour and it's done 2GB. Luckily there's only 7GB used on this drive but at this rate, it'll be done in another three hours.

Well I got macOS installed. Running the latest version for this machine which is High Sierra. Also… installed Mac OS 8.1 for the lolz

It’s crazy that Tiger still gets software updates but 10.8 doesn’t because of SSL! Oh well I’m on High Sierra now. Thanks for your advice ;)

I sit at a desk in my home office all day. I HAVE to go swimming every morning or else I just fester. I do between 80-130 lengths a day (20m pool so 1.6 to 2.6KM a day). I've also started a diet and have lost 7.5lbs in the last 3 weeks. At the moment I could eat a horse!!

These were from Apple!! Internet Archive saved my bacon.

When I did have the option to use terminal to create install media it failed as I don’t have Rosetta on my M4 MBP. Anyway I found a utility for Windows called Transmac and that allowed me to write the InstallESD.dmg to my USB stick and FINALLY got it booted.

Yeah I gave up on Lion and found a working Mountain Lion install. The issues I was having were the versions I’d found to download didn’t have the InstallESD.dmg in them so I couldn’t use that to write to a USB stick.
