The Court grants the Govern. ment's applications for a partial stay of the injunctions entered below but only to the extent that the injunctions are broader than necessary to provide complete relief to each plaintiff with standing to sue.
Supreme Court punts on birthright citizenship, saying the "issue is not before us." However, significantly, Court says "Universal injunctions likely exceed the equitable authority that Congress has granted to federal courts." Therefore, the "applications for partial stays... are granted."

Given repeated questions about Secret Service leadership, dating back more than a decade, is it time for Congress to amend 6 USC Β§113 to make the Secret Service Director position subject to Senate confirmation?
Currently, the Director is appointed by the president and serves at their pleasure.
Thatβs that.

Following their reelection, Reps. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez and Jared Golden propose task force to evaluate federal electoral reform, including:
π Non-partisan open primaries
π Independent redistricting commissions
π Multi-member congressional districts
π Increasing size of the House beyond 435
That is an interesting thought. Could very well impact long-term growth trends, especially given questions about National Flood Insurance Program. I think the underlying trends are unlikely to drastically change short-term, since this is based on 2023 Census estimates

As Democrats conduct their post-mortem of the 2024 election, one eye needs to be focused on long-term strategy. The electoral map for Democrats is likely going to become much tougher in 2032 and beyond, as blue states are forecast to continue losing House seats and thus Electoral College votes
