I don’t want what’s happening in Minnesota to stop until ICE leaves there and every other community. But I do want people to recognize that there’s a race element here. There’s a reason people are treating the protesters of Minnesota as somehow nobler and more patriotic. More "American."

Announcement | US-Ireland Alliance

Today, after Sen. George Mitchell's name was discovered in Friday's Epstein emails dump, the Mitchell Scholarship renamed their entire program and website to the US–Ireland Alliance. The board's actions here are heartening in the face of so many mealy-mouthed defenses elsewhere.

I wonder if the New York Times will go after any of the prominent academics in the Epstein files for being rapists as hard as they went after Claudine Gay for being kind of sloppy with citations in her graduate thesis.

If not, why not?

It Should Be Them Who tell this story

Incredible, as usual, from @chrislatray.bsky.social:
"Movements of everyday people are MIGHTY. It’s the only way things change. Anything truly good that has happened on Turtle Island while under colonial subjugation has been the result of people, everyday people, making them happen."

ICE out of schools & churches? People can't go to them. They cannot move safely in their neighborhoods. They cannot socially exist. They will rightfully remain afraid. Because the problem is ICE.

There is no reforming ICE. Dem leadership needs to stop pretending there's anything to negotiate. 6/

"CBP stays at border"? Where is the border? Border crossing installations, e.g. at airports, road checkpoints, & ports? Because I hate to break it to you, but CBP interprets "the border" as being within a 100-mile buffer zone of the line on a map that most people think of as the border. 3/

There's another way to look at this. ICE is doing everything the military manual tells you not to do to civilian populations because it creates insurgencies where none existed before.

Nonviolence is, in fact, working. This administration is weaker than it was a year ago. More and more of the public is becoming galvanized against it; its agents are being impeded.

At the end of the day, the Black Lives Matter era was about whether people should be killed in the street, and lots of people decided yeah and put those little blue flags on their cars. It spread to everyone because it stopped for no one.

E.P.A. to Stop Considering Lives Saved by Limiting Air Pollution In a reversal, the agency plans to calculate only the cost to industry when setting pollution limits, and not the monetary value of saving human lives, documents show.

Breaking News: The EPA will stop considering lives saved when setting pollution limits and instead calculate only the cost to businesses.

When You Asked Me If I Still Think Of You

Here is the herringbone of loss. The exoskeleton of a love fossilised by grief. I still say your name even if it crumbles in my mouth like the wreckage of a ship left alone to the elements. What do I do with this sea of language you have left within me. Who can I tell about it when all the vowels are you. In the panic of this forgetting is a memory fading into shadow and light. How do I forget the shape of your heart now that I know its vocabulary. The truth then: we turn our hearts into museums of the people that we love to keep them alive inside us.
