just finished watching the first two seasons of Alice in Borderland and OMFG that shit was SO CRAZY. i dont think its comparable to squid game bc sg was way deeper, whereas aib was more about the characters personal journeys, and about humanity, warts and all. both good shows! tho sg more polished.

yes exactly as you said, when youre telling a story you can imply a lot of things to readers without having to be explicit about it, i think the fact that they insisted on it being spelled out was the offputting part

i witnessed this and it was absolutely insane. one of their rules was "their must be a scene before the sex of them discussing boundaries and safe words, and explicit scenes of checking in during the sex, and explicit aftercare for both parties". felt more like sex ed than a fandom event.
